I have cookies on my heart.

It is in the wee hours of the morning that I get my best thinking done. Sometimes I have had a busy evening and all of a sudden it is morning and as I sit and contemplate all that I have not gotten done I figure out what I need to do... Prioritize. And pray. All my life I have tried to write daily. I have tried diligently to keep a journal. I was successful for a couple years during the hardest times of my life. It is with great joy that I can look back and read those entries and look at what God brought me from. Now I try to blog... hahaha.

My heart is so overwhelmed with gratefulness to my creator. And where do I go when I am overwhelmed? To the ROCK that is higher than I!!! That just tells me greater days are to come!

Honestly, many aspects of my day to day have not changed. (many have for the better!) I still get up, get dressed, get a toddler dressed, and dressed again and dressed again, eat breakfast, do laundry, run errands...

Oh but the moments come, where I must pause what I am doing and remember- Wow! Look what the Lord has done!

There are moments of sanity and moments of INSANITY for instance-

Yesterday my mom, Bentley and I went to Target. I needed to run into Dollar Tree for a minute so she stayed in the car. Bentley wanted to spend his $1 too, so we were taking a little extra time. She decided to come in. She locked the car, making sure that my keys were not still in the ignition. Imagine my surprise when I came outside and they were! And the car was locked! I noticed a missed call on my phone from my husband as I  tried to call him (he has our spare and of course our AAA membership just expired) however he was busy. Why was he busy? BECAUSE HE HAD JUST LOCKED BOTH SETS OF KEYS IN HIS WORK TRUCK! He was wanting me to run home and meet him with the third set!!! Amazingly enough he had just gotten a leatherman and he was able to pick his lock, and then come save me. These are the moments that take my breath away.

Bentley has one thing to say. "Mom, I have cookies on my heart."

Don't we all. Oh don't we all.

Embarrassing moments

I started this post a week or so ago but I think I could write one of these every day....

It was a Monday at Jack in the Box
I forgot to lock the bathroom door...
No details will be given so don't even ask.

Today it's Tuesday...
Toast Tuesday!

Which is why I thought toast should be served with dinner...

So tonight My dad goes: Why are you making toast? I go, because we dont have garlic bread? uh... sounded good to me! I thought they wouldn't even notice LOL. They did.

(pic from http://www.eyetricks.com/)

I currently am making dinner almost every night for My dad, My husband, and my 2 year old. It is always an adventure because do to working full-time and us not really eating a whole lot of meat, I am used to mostly frozen dinner meals and such. Now that I am a stay at home mom, I am trying harder to make meals! My mom is such an AWESOME help, but too bad shes in Maine right now... so I get try out crazy things on the guys!!

Like the BLT recipe that I realized too late was supposed to be an appitizer.. Link HERE
Um that's a MINI- sandwich. And mine DID NOT look like this...

Or the chicken that was raw... (THANK you hunny for saving me on that one!)

Speaking of chicken... I bought a WHOLE chicken (2 WHOLE chickens to be exact) and from my Chicken Enchiladas Recipe, all I had to do was boil the chicken and then shred it. Easy right? Uh... I had never touched a whole chicken before... (One time I got a cornish game hen but it pretty much made me cry to cook it... )
So I ask my husband who says, "Just rip it open and put in the crockpot." (I am deathly afraid of raw chicken juices I found out) So I say: "How?"
"Just tear it open!"
"Okay, now what?"
(Getting irritated, if you can imagine that) "Take out the gizzards and stuff."
"The WHAT?!?"
"The package of gizzards and liver in the middle, unless you want liver?"
"Uh no. How do I do that?"
"Just reach your hand in the uh.....rear parts and take them out..."
"MY HAND? Inthere? Ugh Ok Gross gross ewwwww, what do I do with them?"
"Put them in the trash!"

I have no idea why he was irritated about this....

Anyone have any good recipes to share? (oh and by the way the enchiladas were REALLY good) I can take a pic of leftovers...

I am not sorry. " I choose to be happy!"

So I am not going to apologize. You see every time I have gone to post I have been needed by a toddler or by something else in our household. Or I have been spending quality time with my mother or my husband or my father... Or unpacking a mound of boxes... Or etc etc... I wont bore you with any more of that... I will just show you in the pictures below :o)
So today I went to my random word generator to get a word, but they were all too negative. I need to google "POSITIVE word generator" I guess! I do not want to be negative. A friend of ours joined us for dinner after church sunday night and made the statement, " I choose to be happy! I will not be sad anymore!" Its so true, happiness is a CHOICE!
I refuse to be negative any longer!
Today was a hard day for our family. Today would have been my Nana's birthday. Thank God she is in heaven reaping her reward! I am so glad to know where she's at!!!
Thank God for the sweetest little boy in the world who took me on a date to Starbucks and whispered secrets in my ear and wasn't afraid to give me kisses in front of everyone!!
And thank God for friends that will make fun of you.. ;)

I say I am a Christian, Do you?

When I say; 'I am a Christian'

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living''

I'm whispering 'I was lost,

Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble

and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak and

need His strength to carry on.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed and

need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I'm not claiming to be perfect,

My flaws are far too visible but,

God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I still feel the sting of pain...

I have my share of heartaches,

so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'

I'm not holier than thou,

I'm just a simple sinner

Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Moving with a Toddler Part 2 and how to get a UHAUL for cheap!

Well technically this should now be called moving withOUT a toddler... LOL at least temporaily.

Number 10 on my previous list? Have two wonderful, amazing parents that will keep your toddler while you bring a UHAUL full of said toddler's toys (and some other things) to your new location. Did I mention AMAZING!

While I am talking about amazing let me mention our new AMAZING church: www.lifetabporterville.com
Awesome stuff!

OKAY so one day before we leave, my dear husband notices a leak in the car, which ended up being a crack in the radiator. So we have to tow the car.  I am silently relieved because I was going to have to drive the car. Now I don't! I had already negotiated a great price on the UHAUL by going to Budget.com and Goggle-ing coupon codes and getting the price at Budget down so that UHAUL could match it. So I just did another quote for the auto transporter, and we ended up still paying slightly less after full insurance and taxes and adding a auto-transporter than we would have with our original quote! If I had more time I could have renegotiated with Budget again to get even cheaper rates! God has done so much for us on this journey! But more to come in a post about that later!!! Here's some pictures.

Here is da man... All that schooling just for this ;o)
We got to the hotel too late to get dinner so we opened up the freezer and got out some meals! We got some very strange looks from our fellow hotel stayers. Not a good idea to stay in Hayward (we found out later) but if you do stay at the Days Inn. We got a Whirlpool bath King Suite for under $60!!!
This is the view from our balcony. I close that gate on the trash bin at least 3 times a day. Usually more. Everyone else feels the need to leave it open after throwing away their trash, and it SQUEAKS.
This is our living room. Was. There's only a few boxes now lol.
WOW. Lots of work to do!
Yeah.
There we go... That is getting better!
Um I think we moved to a DIFFERENT COUNTY. Gross! LOL
This is a wonderful concoction. Much cheaper than Starbucks. However Starbucks is awesomely enough in walking distance. But in money saving situations there is this recipe:
Caramel Frappuccino Recipe:
2 c. ice
2/3 c. triple strength chilled coffee (I use instant, sometimes decaf)
2/3 c. milk
¼ c. caramel ice cream topping*
2 TBSP sugar
* I use the ice cream topping type in the squeeze bottle, but starbucks caramel syrup would be even tastier.
Mix it in the blender to the preferred consistency.
For extra YUM! Top with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel

who I don't know, don't follow but I found her post.

 Here is our awesome church!!
 Part of it anyway :)
 This is my unpacked kitchen!
I don't think any of my kitchens have ever been this clean!
Thank you Jesus for my dishwasher! Amen!
First home cooked meal in our new place...
Good bye HUMBOLDT! Hello new places!
Truly God's Country... But glad to know where we are now, we are assuredly in the WILL OF GOD!
Again- more about that in a future post!

Moving with a Toddler part 1

My poor baby thinks we're crazy! If we aren't putting things outside we're putting them in a box! I have learned a lot so far.
1. Don't try to remove something without him noticing.
2. Let him play with the the things that are leaving. Chances are you are getting rid of them for a reason and he won't play with them long.
2 Expect him to pick up on your emotions. He is a little human too!
3. Find nonsense jobs. Put these pads of paper in a stack. Move all these shoes into a different box. "Sweep" the floor. He wants to feel like he's helping!
4. Check boxes near where he's playing for thins like food, your keys, random toys, the cat, etc.
5. Try to keep some routine.
6. Talk to him about what's going on. Even if he doesn't understand your words he understands your tone and will usually calm down.
7. Pray
8. A lot!
9. And play good music.

Stay tuned. Here's some pictures.

I feel... There is a call. (serious post)

I feel like crying.
I feel like screaming.
I feel like Im grieving.

I feel like whispering
I feel like laughing
I feel so happy

I feel like lifting my hands
I feel like opening my mouth
I feel like worshiping

I feel like stamping my feet
I feel like shouting
I feel like praising

I feel so weak
I feel so strong
I feel like its been so long

I want to run.
I want to leap.
I want to fall on my face in tears

I want to shout
I want to sing
I want to sit in prayer

Where are we going? Where have we been? There is a call.

Intercession has begun, God we need you more than ever.
There is a call and we must go. There is a call and we must answer.

There is a striving, a thriving, a confiding, a coliding.
Where is the need? Who will intercede?
I see them asking... Who will answer?
I hear them begging... Who will come?

God here we are... God here we go.

Change

What do you do when you see change?
Does it make you quiver and shake with fear or excitement? Does it make you cry or make you laugh or both? Do you avoid change at all costs? Or do you embrace it with everything you've got?
Do you create change or let it create you?

What do you do when you touch change?
I usually gather it all up and spend it on coffee. If no one is around. Or depending on who they are.
Bentley loves to take change and put it in his piggy bank... Hopefully we can keep him saving it and never teach him to spend it lol. If you had $4.00 in change what would you do with it? Would you get a gallon of milk? A gallon of gas? Spend it on coffee? Give it to the Sunday School?

What do you do when you hear change?

If someone told you something that would change your life for the better how would you react?
If someone told you something that would alter your life in a bad way how would you react?
If you hear a sound every day of your life and it changes what would you do?

We recently got smartphones... Will feels the need to wake up to a different alarm clock every morning. This changes my dreams dramatically. Sometimes I am on a freight train, sometimes I am in church, sometimes I have no idea where I am.

What do you do when you taste change?
There are tastes that change in my kitchen everyday. I am a distracted cooker. Every once in awhile I will focus and make something good. Sometimes things can taste very strange.

Did you know McDonalds CHANGED their ice cream? its not smooth anymore and I can taste it.

What do you do when you feel change?

This is the big stuff. This the feeling you get that life as you know it will never ever be the same. This is a deep rooted fear that things will not be okay. This is the peace that you have in knowing the one the created and orchestrated it all. This is kicking the enemy between the teeth and shouting: "YES I will go on!" "YOU can't stop me!"

________________________________________________________________________

Have you watched someone react to change and end up changing themselves? Sometimes change has to happen. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad.....
Bentley is learning how to change his clothes. This makes Mama want to pull her hair out. But this change has to happen! He has to learn how to do this every day!

Change is comin! What will you do with it?

Please note the following pictures may or may not have anything to do with this post. Thank you.
What. Is. On. My. Head?

Well maybe if I just hold still Mom will take it off!

Cuter than the dog on my shirt!

Notice Foot. Notice water. notice how far away it is!!! WOW

PLease. Please do not fall!

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Honestly... a list.

1. I have a toddler
2. I have a toddler who yells sometimes. and cries. and does this REALLY cute foot stamping thing.
3. It's not always cute

(but that is)

4. I wonder if anyone reads this blog (ylvia-Say does)
5. If not it's ok. I learn more from my posts than anyone else does I think.
6. Do you think I am glorifying myself by having a blog?
7. I don't want to do that.
8. All I want to do is encourage others. And maybe make them laugh.
9. I should tell you about running out of gas. You might not laugh though.
10. Why does something crazy have to happen every day around here? Seriously.

This is what Ben Ben is doing at the moment. Isn't. HE. SWEET?
What you don't see is him kicking over all my books I had stacked up because I was scanning with the scanner, Google shopper, and Shop Savvy Alps.
Cool I SAY!
Maybe this way I can post more often?

6 years ago today, Will and I had already been married for 1 week! He was already sleeping on the floor. (My bed was "too soft for him")

Some of these are out of order. I gave up trying to fix it and just made sure I labeled them right.
Do you think we have changed at all in 6 years? ;)
I know we have. I know I would do it all over again.
Thank God for his many wonderful blessings!

I love you honey!!!
